Before submitting artwork to the Port Phillip Youth Art Exhibition, please read these Terms & Conditions carefully.
Submission of an artwork constitutes acceptance of all conditions outlined below. Artworks that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for exhibition.
Eligibility
• Entry is open to young people aged 12 to 25 years. For those under the age of 16, you must have parental consent to enter
• Entrants must also live, study, or work within the City of Port Phillip
• If you do not meet both the age and location requirements, your submission will not be considered
Key dates
Friday 24 July: Deadline for submissions
Thursday 10 & Friday 11 September: Artwork drop-off dates
Thursday 17 to 24 September: Exhibition Dates
Wednesday 16 September: Opening Night with prizes announced
Monday 28 September: People’s Choice Award announced via @coppyouthservices socials
Wednesday 30 September (10am to 5pm): Collection of Works
Entry details
• Entry fee: FREE
• Maximum entries: One (1) artwork per artist
• All submissions must be the artist’s original work
• Artworks submitted must match the work delivered for exhibition
Accepted artworks
• All forms of physical artwork are accepted, including paintings, photography, sculpture, and textiles. If it's a piece made digitally but will be printed in physical format for the show, this is also accepted
• Digital artworks that require a screen, projection, device, or electronic equipment to be displayed will not be accepted
• All artworks must not exceed 1.5m (L) x 1.5m (H)
Artwork presentation requirements
• All artworks must be appropriately framed or professionally finished where applicable
• Artworks must have a secure hanging or display system
• The artist’s name and artwork title must be clearly labelled on the back or underside of the artwork
Delivery of works
• Artworks must be delivered in person on Thursday 10 or Friday 11 September between 10am and 4.30pm
• Delivery address: 238 Carlisle Street, Balaclava
• Late deliveries may not be accepted
Collection of works
• All artworks must be collected during Wednesday 30 September 10am and 5pm
• Collection address: 238 Carlisle Street, Balaclava
• Artworks not collected within the stated timeframe may be disposed of at the organiser’s discretion
Judging & awards
• Judging decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into
• Prize winners will be announced at the opening night event
• The People’s Choice Award will be announced on Monday 28 September via @coppyouthservices social media channels
Sales
• The Sub27 Gallery will assist with any sales during the exhibition. Please ensure you have payID set up prior to the exhibition and submit the sale price with your application
• No commission will be charged
• Artists are responsible for managing delivery of sold works if the purchaser is unable to collect the work during the collection period
Right to refuse to display artworks
The City of Port Phillip Youth Events Committee and Sub27 Gallery reserve the right to refuse to display artwork if it does not meet entry requirements, could cause safety concerns, includes content that may upset, disrespect, or make others feel uncomfortable, such as images or messages that are rude, hurtful, discriminatory,or does not comply with organisational policies. These decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Copyright & reproduction of images
Entrants agree to allow the Sub27 Gallery and the City of Port Phillip Youth Services to reproduce images of entered artwork for publicity and promotional purposes. This does not affect the artist’s copyright ownership. Images of prize-winning artworks may be published on websites and social media platforms.
Insurance & care
All artworks are exhibited at the artist’s own risk. While reasonable care will be taken when handling artworks, City of Port Phillip Youth Services, Sub27 Gallery and associated partners accept no responsibility for loss or damage.
