This directory is predominately used as a tool by developers seeking an artist for an urban artwork as part of the ‘percent for art’ scheme. Artists will be selected for the Artist Directory based on the ‘Professional artist’ criteria outlined in the Public Art Developer Guidelines 2017. Ideally you will also have experience in producing public artworks.

A professional artist:

• usually has experience or a university/TAFE diploma in visual arts

• has specialist training and/or experience within their field and are involved in the creation of art as their profession

• has conceptualising and creative skills that result in the creation of artwork

• has demonstrated professional standing through exhibitions and commissions.

The Public Art Officer will review an artist’s application form and portfolio to determine whether they are appropriate for the Artist Directory. We highly encourage artists who live or work in the City of Port Phillip area to apply.
